Since email attachments require the largest storage requirements in your mailbox storage, this rule will reduce the storage footprint of you mailbox folder by removing, or compressing attachments.
The source folder will be auto populated based on the message selected in your Outlook folder tree. The actions you can perform on message attachments are as follows:
•Compress In-Place
•Detach/Save Compressed
•Detach/Save
•Delete
You can customize the naming convention used for the saved attachments by setting options on the Attachments tab of the Options Window.
After the rule is created, you can rename the rule, test the rule, or view the detailed rule property settings. The dialog will appear similar to the following image when the rule has been created:
